Dear Mother
We received your long wished for and expected letter last night. Really, really how smart Albina is - am very glad, she must not be too smarty however. I have been intending to write for some days. Mrs. Hill told Samuel she would be very glad to knit some mittens if she could get yarn. She says if any of you cam conveniently spare wool I& get Mrs. Ricker to spin some for her, he should be glad. It is unusually difficult to obtain mittens here this winter, and you know we can never buy good yarn. Don't trouble anything about it of not convenient. About beef, butter & chickens, if Charles is coming down, I should think he had better bring what butter & chickens he has to spare as he would probably get more for them here. We bought a firkin of butter recently, very ? in stamped lumps (50 pounds) but shall probably want some more. We have also bought a quarter of beef - wish we had not, so I think likely yours is better, though this is good - a far cow four years old. Apples I judge are pretty cheap everywhere this year.
