Introduction The importance of the Subject - The Bible Commands us to pray - Encourages - Warns - But Is there any ground of obligation to pray outside of the Bible?

The answer - Prayer is the voice of instinct

I Religion universal - Saying of Plutarch - "Cities without walls &c" Nation - People But religion expresses itself in three ways - 1. In faith - 2. In love & obedience - 3 Prayer

Prayer then is as universal as religion - Man the only being that prays. Certain seasons when all men pray. Calamity - Prospect of health in Sickness - "Life a prayer" "I hope & pray."
