St Paul Sept 12th 1857 Brother Isaac Yours of Aug 27 was duly rec. I am much obliged. I saw one of the executive Committee yesterday who told me that they would not probably commence work this season on acc of the pressure in the money market. the name of the Chief in the M&P. R.R is Shepard. I am not acquainted with him and do not know where he is from, "Uncle Sam" is to expend a few thousand dollars on the road from Point Douglas to Stillwater by way of Haskell, This fall grubbing and leveling making culverts &c I intend to make an offer. I am looking daily now for Father after his arrival I shall be more at liberty and intend to look
