84 from thence into the ? gardens which I liked very much there were fountains which were set in motion by turning a screw & it looked like little springs bursting forth & here we saw also the summer houses in which the pope received the ladies but we were not allowed to enter the palace without permission thence to the Collonna garden where we saw the old pine which is known & spoken of as the Collonna pine it said to have been planted by Rienza it is now years old it is going fast I am afraid for in May there was a large branch broken off during a heavy storm & on last Saturday there was one broken off also; it looks like the last of the Tribunes, really it can be seen from most quarters of the town -- here we also saw the remains of the batch of Constantine--
