Clinton Illinois June 15, 1891 Dear Peoples All, When I came in from Weldon 12 miles East Saturday afternoon and went to the P.O. and asked for letters, the little post mistress handed me among others the great fat juicy family letters. I always feel like throwing up my hat when I see it. It does me more good than a square meal and a bath. May she never grow thinner. I don't believe you can any of you enjoy it so much as I do. Last summer up in the Rockies and here in Illinois. Pater has a right to enjoy it surely- Washington [gladden?] must be queer I never heard her but once, that was upon prayer and he was good. It don't seem possible that Elyria can have electric lights. As I remember Elyria it is about as pretty a place as there is in the U.S. The lights must make it beautiful in the evening. I received a fine letter from Mother, this morning I felt justified for going to the post office on Sunday when I found it. It's always a treat if it is a rare one Chas! Your name is not Dennis. Never, never, never- This last circulator has no word
