4th We very early this morning succeeded in getting our breakfast & off to Guadaloupe on the [?] cars by eight oclock which is quite a feat with us, who have over slept ourselves so much since here. The ride was pleasant & the road beautiful the cars passing through an Avenue of shade trees, all the way from the out skirts of the City to the train which is a distance of about three miles. &
