the old Church built by Cortez, which is over 350 years old, & is not now used, close by this stands the large old tree under which Cortez stood & cried the night his Troops were defeated & driven out the City by Montezuma. The tree is called the "noches triste" or "sad night" tree. This is a very interesting historical place. We returned home just as the sun was setting through the principal Avenue - the "Empress
