It stands on a high bluff commanding a fine view of the country & was a look out for Montezuma - he having his tent pitched under the emmense red wood & cypress trees in the wood below. these trees are planted in Avenues & are lovely with their festoons grey moss. These must be very old as they were very large when Cortez made his conquest here - near here is Montezuma's bath enclosed by a stone wall. We had a view of the [?] [?] Moline did [?] also the ruins of the old Church where the Priest stood in the door with his Crucifix as our Troops passed - praying them to not touch his Church.
