89 1730. “Settlements are formed by the French in the country of the Yatasses, about this period, under the patronage of M. Verge, to whom was granted the exclusive privelege of trading with the Indians in that quarter. Settlements are also made by the French on Bayou Pierre about this time.” Lings Ch. 91.
