There was a judge elected by the people for trying civil cases. there was a regular session of court held the same as in our city. one case where a friend of mine was the plaintiff will illustrete it fully. He ? a "Ranche" about two miles down the Platt River and rented it to a man about a year before the tenent never paid any rent and laid claim to the property saying he had just as good a right to it as any body else. My friend suid him and got a judgment from the court issued in the following shape. "the owner of said claim is hereby authorized to take possession of his property forthwith the means to be employed are that the said owner shall take as many men well armed as he should deem nessary and take possession of his property peaceably if he may forcibly if he must And if there is any resistance made to this writ he shall be justified and held guiltless of killing any and all parties that shall resist this order of the court.
