Tuesday June 15,1875 This has been a bad day, raining very often and chilly, all of us well. the painters, plumbers and Carpet Shakers all have been to work to day at two of our rooms. and we are in great confusion, and I fear Painting will be so for sometime. Ada and Mattie went riding and called to see Belle. found all well. Mrs Locke sent Mr Angell a beautiful book, unclear one before and sent me a note. I had letter from home and also one from Mr Charles Johnson, Miss Markly sent her wedding Cards to us to day. Our boys invited to a party at Mr Kelly,s my Sisters all have sent letters full of love and sympathy. our loss is keenly felt by them, they were so proud of Eva, and have such an extravagant admiration for her, she was so lovely that she inspired all, it is a public calamity both here and in Louisville, how feeble we are now in our great loss. utter desolation reigns in our house, the merry musical laugh is hushed, and we are sad and broken hearted.
