August, Sunday, 2. 1863. Very warm until afternoon when we had a shower-slight Regimental Monthly inspection in evening. Later four or 5 men deserted from our company & sent squad in pursuit_ Do not feel quite as well as unit No news-a few boats have passed but none have landed Monday 3 Another very warm day Passed very quietly__ No boats landed during the day __ Wrote a letter to Bro Davies__ Wrote a communication to Rawlins complaining of Genl Reed__ Rode out in the evening__ [Nurses?] were away with ambulance__ [unclear] X 1- Tuesday 4 Warm as usual__Several boats came__Fanny Bullitt went down__ Recd late papers 28th.
