Mrs Bland Ballard two sons and Governess, arrived this morning from Chicago Wednesday, October 30, 1901

Mrs A.C. Badger goes today to Mrs TT Shreves house. This is a perfect day warm and sunny. all of the family well here, my cough holds on, last night was the first time it annoyed me during the night. the oppression is on my chest my lungs are so full. We rose early, and the Carriage came for Mrs Shreve, to go and meet her daughter Mrs Bland Ballard, her two boys and Governess all from Chicago. This is a busy day for the Houstons, two or three Receptions Lunches, dinners, and drives, and a Ball to night, Mrs Houston is in mourning for her Husbands Mother, and only accepts the Drives, at twelve O.clock Mrs Shreve will send her Carriage for me, to go to her house, and see the Ballards. I will take my trunk with me, and finish my Louisville visit there at my sisters, and return to my home in Kenilworth Ill. where my husband awaits me. I am invited to day to a Reception at Mrs W.B. Belknap,s to meet Mrs blank from California. My daughter Ada Swearingen will meet meet me to day at Mrs T.T. Shreve,s I cannot stay at her home this visit, on account of the critical illness of her Father in law.
