June Tuesday 9 1863 Warm morning Moving camp __ [unclear] the rebels are advancing on town__ ordered to move men up and into line at [unclear] Did so _-Rebs advanced [unclear.....firing without any results. Our men advanced and fired across Macin Bayou and we went to camp to spend an uncomfortable night _ got up at 3 Wednesday 10 Heavy showers in the night. Rained at times during the day Straightening things [unclear] with camp everything in confusion

Learned that the principal part of the force of the rebels has moved back __ Have things fixed for myself very [unclear] and expect a good nights rest.

Same X -1 Thursday, 11. Rec'd orders this morning to more the Regiment to Millikens Bend__ do so on board Fanny Bullitt. This is assuring the [unclear] of war Got off just at night and were down the river __ not at all accommodating on boat and I got very angry.. Reach the Bend in the night.
