June Wednesday 3, 1863 cold cloudy pleasant_ Rec'd two letters from Bro Davis one of the 24 Apl and the other 26 May. He declines position in the reg. Wrote him a letter telling him what I thought. called on [unclear] Bishop this morning_- find him doing well as could be expected Rec'd orders from col Shepherd to day Thursday 4, Mild and pleasant_-Everything dull and quiet __ no news from above or below__ Rec'd order for [unclear] from {unclear....] I wrote [unclear].. Lead a fire battalion drill.
