Bedding to secure ourselves against the Cold of this climate. Even the Commandant rejoiced with us and suggested a way to obtain the money, although it would probably not be before the following Spring; as the distance was great and no passage to Montreal during the Winter Season [[ ]] Mr. John Askin, the Gentleman to who the governor advised us to apply, to procure the money, very generously offered, to pay us the whole immediately on our ase word, that such a Letter of credit had been sent to the house in Montreal: and which he accordingly did.
