Dec. 29, 19969 Dear friend, How are you coming along with your autobiography? It must be a difficult job unless you've kept a journal as Hardy did.

I have written 15 short stories during the past year - 4 not bad - but Agent Siegel reported last month that his client said the weren't "in tune with the times." What do I do now?! I've been reading some short-story anthologies - underlined: Story Jubilee & Stanford Univ. Stories. 1960 ed. by Stegner & Scowcraft.
You will be interested in the enclosed, I think, and will have some helpful comments on it for me. (See p. 44 in particular). Do you ever review books of the kind anymore?
With best wishes for a productive year. G.W. Sherman
