Board of Foreign Missions Reformed Church in America, No. 26 Reade Street Rev. Henry N. Cobb D.D. Corresponding Secretary

East [illeg] N. J. New York March 4th 1888

My very dear Brother: I cannot tell you how glad I am that you have received and accepted the call - so [?] of the Lord - that has come to you from [Hossne?] Hale. It seems to me the appropriate recognition, not only by your brethren but by your Lord Himself, of the very special the [trignal?] service you have been enabled towards his cause in Hartford. Had not only in Hartford but wherever else the [Kundledgs?] of your wise and and earnest work and your great success has come. I congratulate in advance these young men who are to come under you personal influence in the chair that you will occupy. And I congratulate you on receiving the gift from the Lord of such an opportunity to impress your spirit you well-[] [] and your deep convictions up their [gr?] and reception [?inds] How many time you may be able to reproduce yourself - and even produce something better than yourself (and I am sure you will not resent the latter supposition)
