Dear Jack,

   Congratulations on underlined:  They Seek !   I had already cut this bit from "The New Yorker".   I haven't got your book yet, but I shall buy myself one (it's time, every so often,  to give oneself a present) and I'll recommend it to all and sundry.
   I will be darned about Fannie & Geo. Wash. Carver!  I hope her novel rings a bell better than the last one did.  Her negroes especially.
   I'd love to come to the Conference unless Keo gets leave at that
