1866. Friday, January 12. Vicksburg Miss - Called upon my friend in the morning & bid GoodBye _ _ _ _ Spent the day at the hotel waiting for a boat & getting none. Very dull & tiresome. Met with Maj McKee over of the 11th Ca Cavalry Reg. A quarrel & almost a shooting affray at the hotel The Mississippi arrives fresh before dark & we get off about 8 o clock. Dr Norton & Capt Campbell came up on the boat. This has been a warm pleasant day. - I now sit writing this in the cabin of the steamer.
