Poor old Mr. Poole! I met him first at Maywood, Ill while a guest of Mr and Mrs O. M. Simone. He was trying to make a living as a florist. Then he moved to Glen Ellyn with his nursery stock, failed, and died- as he declared he would- with his boots on. And they were heavy felt and leather storm boots! He must have cut quite a figure in Chicago about the To's as he scoured a fragments of the Court House bell after the 10-10-71 fire, made it up into tiny bells and sold them as mementos, the funds to be donated toward securing a new bell.
