Joseph William Zeh, B.S., M.D. Physician & Surgeon 4642 N. 46th Ave. Chicago, ILL/

  Oct. 24, 1914

Precious Marder:

To say I was surprised to read Helen's card to you, would be putting it mildly. speaking of thunderbolts, that certainly was one. I can't understand what induced her

to write that way. She has known you a good deal longer than she has known Genasine Hess, and must know you well enough to be sure that you would not say anything to hurt her. She must realize that G. Hess is merely a scandal-monger just from her repeating and enlarging upon what you said to her. Still, as you said, it is something of a relief to be rid of the bunch. she hasn't answered my letter yet and I doubt she ever will.
