is your determination in the face of your state of health. You are a lady of courage! I duff my hat to you in appreciation of your accomplishments in spite of what all ?uh the ?ran and determined fear would consider, insurmountable obstacles - But you were always so. The wildest chorus of "Nay, nays," never fazed you, when your heart and mind championed a purpose - Your motto blazed forth in letters of fire - "Do or Die!"

I do not remember when I last wrote, but know that Hattie has been sending my letters in to you, so that you are quite in touch with my activities, as I am with yours, because she shows your letters with many of us here. At times, I request her not to send special letters to any one, but she is incorrigible on that score. for she does it anyway, just as you sent Editha's letter to us. Of course, there were no state secrets in Editha's letter, as?ch as I sometimes put into mine.
It is a habit of Editha's it seems, as her letters to me contain the same request - I so hope you two will meet soon along the Riviera - Dont feel offended, if Editha sort of keeps to herself - it is her tired mood, that will disappear, when she recovers from her weariness - Her sister Louise has been in Los Angeles this winter - Editha wrote me to write her to come up to Palo Alto, which I did. She'll be here the middle of May. Editha once brought her up to ? Chicago Warner? An. home about ten years ago - for dinner one

evening - The two sisters are very different - Louise said to Mother that evening - "You and I would get on charmingly, Mrs. Pischel - as neither claims to be a big ? ?ow."
