My dear Katharine:

 We were indeed surprised when Starr & Maggie brot up your first letter to them - and I thot perhaps when you found

out that I was still alive you might write to me.

 Think I am quite as well as when you saw me last. It seemed a long time ago. And my precious mother and father have gone home, the house

that they last occupied to-gether burned, and Joe ^ Starr's oldest son & his wife have a new house on the dear old farm. But the old house I used to live in still stands.
