Anna Smith P.O. Box 552, Oakland Ca. 94604 Fred Thompson Chicago, Ill. Dear F. W., Just a few lines - I've owed you more than a few lines for quite a while. Misplaced your letter. First I read of the loss of your help-mate. I won't extend my sympathy - but say I'm happy she has escaped from latter days of suffering. For you I'm sure you have many happy memories of your life to-gether. As to the visit to F.W. in S. F. I went to see them. A pleasant - and some what fruitful unclear. He suggested I go see unclear - "that he is a good unclear" Seems as tho' I have of a remembrance long distance discussion between you and Melvin some years ago. Haven't gotten in touch with the two since nor they with me. As to your question I believe it was - Vincent St. John - no, I didn't know him - I've heard of him and read some. I don't know any German - studied a little French and Spanish at night school. I should have kept it up. Hope to buy your First 75 yrs of the I.W.W. one of these days. My days with I.W.W. only reaches back to 1937. Y? 31, 32 1929 or 1930 I took part in the Unemployed Movement.
