9:15 a.m. August 2, 1954 -

Darling Tafern:

Ward just appeared and paid $6.40 due on last (July) payment. He apologized for Murl that she hadn't stopped to do it before she left when on her vacation - So they are about to get things fixed up now to transfer the old cottage to a young family by the name of Singleterry and take the Singleterry trailer as part payment. Ward had on new clothes, shoes, etc and acted like $1.000,000. He hopes to get matters settled in a day or so. Later. He came back in aft. to have receipt altered to $46.40 as he forgot that. yours of 30th came this morning. So glad the fruit proves satisfactory in every way.
