Mrs. May Walden 420 West Bell Street, Box 853 Avon Park, Fla.

April 26, 1943.

Darling Tafern,

I'm trying to write some letters this afternoon, and am enclosing the ones I've answered. Yesterday was cold and windy, though sunshiny. Instead of my Easter outfit, I wore the grey crepe you gave me last year, as it has long sleeves, and my winter coat. Byrum Shockley came for me and we carried the box of his mother's clothing out to Mrs. Putney, who is the same size Mrs. S- was. He brought the things in several days ago and I washed and ironed some, darned and mended all. After a short visit we went on to Highlands Lakes and spent several hours with the German refugees. The Hendricks who lived first in my house before they bought this stucco house out there. They have repaired and improved the place, put up a nice

to go to Chicago to get watch material. Love to all, Mother.
