Had a pleasant trip through the cane breaks & cockle burrs. Paid $15 for 10 days board on the boat. Pretty steep for a soldier. Thursday, 29. Pleasant day. Moved into a house near the boat. Comfortable place. Retired early to bed. Before sleeping read a little of Shelley's Poetry. An expedition was sent to day out West. Had a little fight. Friday, 30. Been busy in the office all day. Received a good many orders. 1st Brigade ordered away to morrow with 20 days rations. Another expedition ordered for to morrow. Pleasant day. Take supper in the Arayo ? with QM Hubbard.
