175 It may sometimes be the duty of a person to lose life; to save the lives of others. If we could suppose a case where the death of a common person might be the means of sav.g the life of one who was eminently great, good & useful to the world, & like to be so, it would be the duty of that common person to be willing to die, To preserve so eminent a life. peradventure?, says our Lord, for a good man ? would men dare to die. It may then be lawful for a person to die, to save the lives of many persons.

  It is also a duty to lay down life, for the cause of God or the the true religion. When a person cannot worship God or own & profess the true religion & live, it is his duty to renounce life.
