Dear Ma: Will you forgive me for leaving you so long without a letter? I find that it will not do for me to write a great deal, and the Dr. says I must be careful and not tax that poor weak member of mine, I must write short letters, and read only as much as I can standing and holding my book in both hands, at arm's length nearly over my head.
