I had been hoping to hear from you every day for two or three weeks in answer to mine written long ago. Have you received one? you do not mention it. Lucy has received two and Eliab one from you since mine was mailed. I have had the benefit of theirs it is true yet it is not the less gratifying to hear direct.
We are all well Lucy comfortable as usual Eliab health is he says better now than it has been for two years before, he has grown fleshy perceptibly within the few last weeks; he as well as Samuel have been very busy of late; indeed always are. While you are having summer showers and balmy air under your 'soft southern sky' we are beginning to see in [unclear] the brisk weather and leaden sky of November; beginning I say for we have as yet had no snow nor is it very cold; there have been in this month many mild hazy autumn days, many bright glowing sunsets, winter seems to be but slowly seeping towards us, yet not the less surely; the season to
