The farrier unclear poulticed and otherwise treated it believing it would come out well if not entirely sound but the animal begun to show signs of complications and rapidly lost flesh & strength Evidently blood poisoning - resulting in the beast being unable to use its hind legs so could not get up or stand when assisted to its feet. And as a matter of humanity it was shot to end possible needless suffering.
