Hattie is very well wears her dresses almost long but has not grown taller. I am not specially hurried in sewing though enough to employ my time, but I have been quite engaged all this week writing letters laying aside every thing else & making a business of it. I was owing 6 or 8 letters received from 4 to 6 months ago from Emily Baker, her sister Mrs. Converse Mrs. Theodore Furber, Mrs. Hopkins, Mary Smith, Lissie unclear Dewees & Fanny &c I am going to keep up the good work till I have written to Mollie, to Charles & Albina & to Almeda from whom I received a letter yesterday & to Samuel.- Almeda has a great trial & Mr. Bider's situation is dreadful to think of: he needs much grace & so does she too: She writes of attention to religion there so indulging hope & Lissie interested Oh! What a great blessing - if she should now be truly converted & changed in the spirit & temper of her mind! and Janey too. I fear he is not in the best place for cultivating a high moral & religious tone or the right sort of character. I am not sure but it would be the best thing he could do to go west with Samuel: perhaps Isaac might get him into good business at DuQuoin. Isaac's interest is there & I more than half believe he will be there more or less permanently. He has rented his house here for a year
