Anna DW. Dec. 24'55 Elyria Dec 24th/55 Dear Mother Yours of 14th, also a line from Isaac came to hand last eve, instead of the arrival of yourselves as we confidently expected the doctor went to the cars to meet you three days in succession & as you may suppose we are somewhat disappointed we had counted upon having you here at Christmas but it seems are not to see you till after New Years. I am at a loss to imagine what can make it necessary to detain. I was in Dunbarton longer now since he expects to return there; It seems a long visit for you to make there, when we are impatient expecting you here, but of that I cannot judge so well; it is perhaps all for the best, I cannot help thinking that the plan of visiting about in Warwick &c is not according to Isaac's were usual good judgment since such visiting instead of [fun risking?] rest or relaxation will be exciting & fatiguing besides the exposure to cold perhaps severe, and driving storms the summer time seems a much more favorable & suitable season for you to visit where the places are so scattered & not very easy to access; I fear you will be sick or take a bad [unclear] that will last all winter & know you
