My Dear Sons Bangor Oct. 14th

                                  I have written to both of you not long since we have had letters from you both within a few days. I thank you very much for writing frequently.
  You complain of the irregularity of the Mails. It is bad enough at the best to be so far away that we cannot send & get a return in less than 3 or 4 weeks but I hope you will not always be so far away
  you speak of rain - we had had showers but not rain enough yet to raise the streams at all & the effect is very disastrous to Bangor. Some heavy failures I believe they say . S. & E. are trembling somewhat  I suspect.
 I feel sorry for your loneliness but you should not think about that. Be thankful instead that you have lov'd & loving ones to care for you & be care'd for.
 Didn't you rejoice when reading the account of the meeting of the "Board at Hartford I'm sure I did.
