  "General Braddock marches against Fort du Quesne, (afterwards Fort Pitt,) situated at the head of Ohio river - is drawn into an ambuscade a few miles from the fort - is slain & his army defeated, seven hundred lives having been lost in the conflict.  - The French garrison of Fort Edward commanded by Baron Dieskan (?), is defeated by the English"
