certainly not monotonous but one mustn't plan to reach any place at any certain time. I started merrily from Braunschweig at noon - travelling 3rd class, second being way above American prices just at present - & after waiting two hours in a freezing station for the "Schiellzug" which presumably went thru Marburg, I was informed I would have to get out in Carsel, wait 2 hours & then take a "Pusonerzug". I arrived at 12:40 a.m
