Dear Mother

Your letter dated Aug. come to hand a few days since, making my heart glad, as letter from home always do. I received one from you and Isaac, some two weeks since which I intended to answer immediately but circumstances prevented. The housekeeper Miss A. of whom I have spoken in my letters who had been sack for the last eight weeks, died day before yesterday, was buried yesterday she suffered much - required watchers every night. Mrs. H has been detained in taking her journey to Mass five weeks, - is now working all hours in her preparations to go. I have waited some too, in order to come to a definite conclusion in regard to my course, before writing again. I feel as much desire to return as you can have for me to come, and I do not fear at all but I should be happy and contented even in the circumscribed sphere of Cedar Grove - year after year,- The consideration that I have health and energies for active exertion -- ability to earn something has made me hesitate and rather determine, that if they way was opened by providence, I would stay and teach until another summer, but no such way appears. Mrs. H makes some change in her school, wants a teacher in Larkin Algebra and Geometry, & has engaged a lady just come from Pittsfield yesterday: If I was capable of teaching all the require, she
