another Snow Storm - it fell to the depth of 3 or 4 inches during last night - loafed about all the forenoon - after dinner went to the College and worked a Problem which only 4 of all the Scholars they have ever had performed - this made the Principal wonder as the whole 4 including myself were what they call out here Yankees or eastern boys - in the evening attended another of Fowlers lectures - his subject was "Love Courtship and Marriage" - he dwelt particularly on the love sentiment as being the cause of more happiness than all other sources put together - that a person never knew what it was to be happy until they had been in love. - that love would make a hero of a coward - would inspire the man with ambition - he would labor hard and endure almost everything for the sake of one he truly loved - he also dwelt upon the manner of courtship as carried on at the present day - he despised the idea of a young man putting on his Sunday best and calling on Miss Julia who would receive him with a bewitching smile with her Silks and flounces
