a little while at home with Pa and he leaves for Hillsdale leaving his bereaved family behind (My writing looks wild)! 

   I shall not pounce down upon you without leave, but when I find that I can leave home comfortably, I shall write to inquire into your domestic affairs, and if the Fates be propitious I shall gladly devote myself to edifying and being edified at your most hospitable home.
  Meanwhile, if a chance occurs of a ride to Oberlin, please come.  Our house (Dascomb Cottage)  will now, or soon most comfortably and gladly welcome you into the room prepared for you. Come and see it. I wish especially that you would stay over the Sabbath. There is a deep religious interest here now, and many are hoping
