8 Col. Brown is very sick not expected to live. O. Goddaw? has gone off to try and find his son, Wm, I believe who had gone peddling. Went to the burying ground Every body I saw any where knew Capt Issac and was ever so glad to see his son. One rusty Old fellow, Calvin Forbes by name passed me in Uncle's orchard had and exalted remembrance of you, my Mother, for, let me tell you, making him the best mug of punch that ever he drank, when he was once threshing Oats there. How much good that did him! There had not been a week since when he had not thought of it and of you! unclear Chas Rich was the very worst boy that ever he knew any thing about supposed Capt Metcalf would have trained him if any body could but he could do nothing with him. Sent to bring Forbes dinner he would stop to play & sometimes got there before sundown!

Sat morning, I walked back to Warmich expecting to see Cousin Joseph but he not yet return from Boston, and no come Saturday. P.M. in rain went over with Uncle Jos to Mr. Williams, all well. S.E. Balwin Waldron, Yale student, Lucy unclear man there. Lucy appears to be a very fine smart girl, got a grand new piano. Aunt Ester there, does not look six months older or different at all from a dozen years ago. She is going to Barnand Nev to spend the winter. Baldwin & Lucy have just returned from Monadnock? There, if you are not satisfied with news and scramles?. I will give it up. Aff. I.I. Metcalf
