Dear Sister Lucy For three good long most welcome letters I am truly obliged - the three? last since my last was sent to you: also a very interesting letter from brother Samuel which I must defer answering awhile his knotty? questions meantime lying on the table, under consideration. I should have written you a fortnight since, but I have been actor in a sort of drama - an episode in my monotonous life,- have waited for the closing scene so as to give you an account of it. About a month since, an application came to me through a lady here, to take the situation of a sort of private governess, in Milwaukie. two children, a girl of six, a boy of three years, children of a widower of two years standing - a lawyer of large practice: boarding with them in a genteel family, taking the sole charge of them day and night, superintending their wardrobe i.e. purchasing, and getting made but without any labor,- a sitting room and bedroom adjoining, which the family have nothing to do with except to put in order so: he wishes to obtain a lady who shall devote herself, to his children, form right habits of speaking and acting - take in fact all the responsibility of a mother. Some things about it appeared inviting as a relief from teaching - it is about time for to stop
