20th--Was awake nearly all night, on account of the wind. A terrible "norther" sprang up which will probably prevent ships going out for several days--How I pity the Ladies who are on board, as we can see the Steamer rocking like cradles. Mrs Petersen sent me some books to day--& although they are back number I have contrived to pass the day pleasantly with their aid--We took another walk to the Palm Grove, sat down & enjoyed the breezes, & J got a nice cup of coffee & I of chocolate when returning home--Norther still blowing I went to bed listening to the beating of the waves against the great walls.
