Saturday June 12th 1875 Another day gone, and still no Eva has returned to our weeping hearts, she is really gone away from us never to return, and we must weep and Mourn alone it has turned very cold to day like winter. all of us well. Belle with her beautiful baby has been up to see us. They are quite well. Catie Isaacs is still very feeble and it will take sometime to get her up. it is her tenth day. her baby boy is all right. she don't know yet that our darling Eva is no more, Oh what fearful words, no more. it seems as if my heart must break. I have sent Ada Mattie Faulds and Hunt out to get the air. My boy Shreve had quite a faint turn at lunch from being overheated and cooling off too fast. Sunday June 13th 1875 It is still cold, very cold, we have started the steam through the house. last night we were all sick, every one in the house with Cramp and Diarrhea, to day we are better, babies seem all right, we think of going to day to Graceland to be with our darling Eva for awhile past Sunday she lay in this house in her casket and was buried at two O, clock and to day we are alone. Oh! Memory you have almost left me. I am so heart sick and broken hearted, none of us have gone to church to day. Mr Angell still stopping at Belle,s house. Monday June 14th 1875 note left margin: Painting It has been cloudy and chilly to day, all of us well. the Painters commenced their work in our nursery to day and it looks very pretty. the wall will be French grey and blue border. we are trying to make things pretty and comfortable for Eva,s babies, Mrs Nicholson the Monthly Nurse and Lena Eva,s french maid are caring for the children, I am so glad we have them, poor dear children left all alone in this cold world without any Mother. it does seem to me as if I would lose my reason when I think that my lovely and beautiful child has been taken away from us. I wish I could forget the past, but memory seems strong. Mr & Mrs Harvey and Mrs Angell came up after dinner and sat with us. it now raind hard a letter came from Mattie Sheridan, she knows nothing about our trouble, Mrs Logan wrote me.
