Monday Oct 5th

It has been very cold to day -- looked like snow. we all well. Virginia & I went out shopping -- bought children new tarletons for Capt Capt Carters daughters party. Mrs Brewster making them. Sallie Hunt called to see me. so did Mrs Heiskell & Etta and Georgie Dumesnil & Mary called to see children and Ashley Prilte? Henry Tucker sent Belle a handsome Boquet. I am writing invitations to day for Mattie Faulds party given to my children five parties have been given to my little ones.

Teusday Oct 6th

It rains a great deal to day. we all well. Virginia & my Belle out all day delivering party tickets -- for Mattie Faulds party -- I stayed at home -- and wrote tickets. at nine it poured rain -- my three daughters and Jamie all went to Capt Carters -- to his little girl, Sallie,s party given to Belle & Eva -- I went at eleven to bring the children home. It still rained -- all had a nice time Mrs. Rawson & May called.

Wednesday Oct 7th 1863.

It has rained again to day. we all well but Ma -- she has severed pain in her breast. Virginia went out to buy Curtains this afternoon. received two letters from Mr Badger. I went out with Virginia --

Thursday Oct 8th

It has cleared off, and I think will be fair. I went to mrs Tuckers with four -- spent a pleasant hour. I then went to see Mrs Hunt and Siss. at two O. clock, David & I went to the Menagerie and took all the children with us. Siss,s children & Virginia,s too. Virginia & I went out to do some shopping -- went to Shultress? he treated us to ice cream. Virginia ordered her party supper.

Friday Oct 9th

It is a lovely day -- all of us busy fixing for the party of Mattie,s to night. baby has a bad cold -- at seven the table was laid, and a beautiful table it was -- it was made in a cross -- and each end had a Pyrimid, and one in the centre. the table was decorated with flowers. and everything was splendid -- birds and meats were reserved for the grown folks. at eight the little folks began to gather and in a little while -- there were over sixty children -- and about twenty grown persons. they were dressed exquisitely -- my children were very happy. at eleven they had their supper. a fine band of music and everything passed off beautifully Sister Belle came and her children -- Miss Lillie Ward called to see me --
