October, Saturday, 10. 1863. Very Pleasant day. All quiet & no news. Mr. Field coming with Mr. Fenell & at night Genl Thomas came down in the Eva on his way to Vicksburg & Natchez. Genl is becoming a little troublesome again & needs snubbing. Remained quietly in camp all day Bats X 1— Sunday, 11. Pleasant day. Read & slept—slept the most of the time though Wrote a note to Davis. Rec'd a letter from Miss -cos—Jones Feel dull and stupid to day. Very natural that I should [unclear] went to G Goodrich Landing Nothing new from any source. Inspected camp. Looking well Monday, 12. Another pleasant day. Recommended Luiet [lined through] Srgt [unclear] for promotion &c Wrote a letter to Mrs. Walker stating what Mr Field requested Quite a heavy shower in the afternoon. Played Whist at night in our room Pleasant evening 3rd Miss sent out this morning Court of a Field Officer has been sitting to-day.
