October Thursday 1 1863 Mrs. Grove came this mirning & so did the Medical inspector__ A large portion of the Genls Staff ordered back to [unclear]_- Good time coming_ Rode out with Lieut Col Peebles to the Harding plantation returning about noon__ Cleared off Pleasant__ The General & his staff all drunk I understand__ Sent over by QM 3 [unclear] for Whiskey which did not get__ The Devil to pay over them. Friday 2 Cool pleasant day & no news__ called upon Mrs Grove_The General has moved & she is now alone__ No orders or communications from there_ Expedition returned Remained in camp all day _ Recd paper of 25th_ Gave Mrs Grove five dollars Thursday _ Dels__ X 1--
