Sent for butcher Knives not sent. Recd order near night relieving me from command & the adjt [{adjutant]] too. War has begun. Retired late Capt Wilsen returned Friday, 11. Warm as usual-all quiet & no news from any quarter No boats up nor down. Attended Battalion drill myself to-day. Troubled but little by the Genl to day. Sumner returned to his Reg Regiment for duty. Read some & slept a little. Am enjoying myself in a quiet way.
