Auburn, Thursday Eve. July 25th 1816 My Lovely Sally I did not expect so soon to take up the pen to address you - but there is an excuse for me - I have almost left my heart in Pompey - it must be with you - and Sally will be true to it. And my Dear Girl Above all be true to your Father and your God - Pray - frequently, humbly and believingly - The duty will become a delight - Religion will become a Source of Happiness - Beware of Temptation may God bless thee with grace to do his will - loose no time to Give yourself to God and to his church - Since I left you I have more attentively considered the time when it will be most proper for reunion to be accomplished - I think it will be as convenient for me sometime between the 3d and the 10th of September as at any other time - I would Suggest Sabbath the 8th as a convenient and proper time - If my Dear Sally, you deem it proper and and it is agreeable to your Dear Parents - to have union thus complete you will please to make it known to me, by letter as soon as convenient and If God permit I will endeavor to see my lovely Girl again by the time first above mentioned.
