Dear William,
I thought I would write a little today as I shall probably have but a few minutes time in the morning. I find Eddie very weak, more so than I expected; but he is nearly free from pain. The fever seems to be leaving him slowly. They hope he is really getting better- the typhoid symtoms have left him. He has not been off the bed at all since a week today. Mate raises his head a little to rest him by placing a folded comfortable under his pillows. That is as near as he comes to sitting up. He takes two or three tablespoonsful of beef tea
